EMMA LOUISE RIGGS Emma Louise Riggs, of Atlantic and formerly of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, January 30, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. The daughter of Frank and Ada Lechner, Emma Louise was born January 8, 1925 in Cumberland, Iowa. 'Emalu' graduated from Cumberland High School. She was married to Max E. Query and lived in Atlantic and California. She was a member of the Christian Church and later transferred to the Methodist Church after she married William “Bill” M. Riggs. Following Bill’s passing, Emalu moved into 800 Chestnut. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of laughter, endearment to her friends and as a perfect homemaker. She is survived by her nephew John Welton and wife Georgia; her nieces Sue Campbell and husband Johnny; Patty Rogers and husband Jim; her nephew Mike Lechner; sister-in-law Maxine Query; great nieces, Darcie Miller, Dawn Haley, and Bethany Rogers and great nephew Bob Haley; and other nieces, nephews cousins and their families. Emalu was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, sister Goldie Welton; brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Jeanette Lechner; great nephew 'Matt' Rogers; and brothers-in-law, George Welton and Lloyd Query. ~ THE 23RD PSALM The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. Funeral InformationHer memorial service, welcoming relatives and friends, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 3 at Cumberland United Methodist Church in Cumberland. Pastor Dick Krambeck will officiate. Family committal service in the Villisca Cemetery is pending. A luncheon will be held following the Memorial Service at the church. There will be open visitation for signing Emalu's guest book Sunday afternoon and evening and daily from 8:00 to 5:00-until services.
