DOROTHY IRENE BONNESEN
Dorothy Irene Bonnesen, age 82, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.
Dorothy was born in Massena, Iowa on January 13, 1928 to Clifford and Reba (King) Holiday. She attended school in Massena and graduated from the Cumberland - Massena High School. After her graduation, Dorothy taught country school in Marne, Iowa. She married Dallas W. Bonnesen in Cumberland, Iowa on August 10, 1947. The couple was blessed with a family of four children. Dorothy and Dallas will be remembered for being a friendly team in their "5 and 10" Stores in Atlantic and Anita. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic and taught Sunday school for 25 years. Dorothy's favorite book was the Bible.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Becky Bennett of Omaha, NE, Biff Bonnesen and wife Dana, Brad Bonnesen and Beth Bonnesen, all of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Angie Stave of Omaha, NE, Brant Bonnesen of Atlantic, IA, Brandon Bonnesen of Audubon, IA, Matt Bonnesen of Anita, IA, Jackie Howard of Seattle, WA, Ryan Christensen, Heather Christensen and Ashley Christensen, all of Atlantic; eleven great grandchildren; brothers, Varel Holaday and wife Shirley of Atlantic, IA and Hank Holaday and wife Millie of Anita, IA; sister Ruth Hellyer of Des Moines, IA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dallas; brothers, Gail Holaday and Gary Holaday and a sister Marjorie Eblen.
Funeral Information
There will be open visitation daily 8:00 - 5:30, with a family visitation on Wednesday evening, February 24 from 5:00 - 7:00 at Roland Funeral Home.
A funeral services for Dorothy will be held at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Thursday, February 25, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
