ADA PRESTON
Ada Preston, 89, formerly of Massena, Iowa Falls and Atlantic, currently of Allen House in Atlantic, passed away at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa on Thursday, January 21.
Ada Katherine Spies was born the daughter of Henry J. and Phoebe Florence (Anstey) Spies in Massena, Iowa on January 29, 1920. She attended school in the Massena area and graduated with the Massena High School Class of 1937. As a young lady, she was one of the Seven Spies Sisters Dance Review and continued to give lessons and to love dancing throughout her life. Ada was married to Hugh Allen “Skeet” Preston on November 26, 1941 in Anita, Iowa. The couple adopted two sons and made their home in Atlantic where Skeet was a KJAN radio announcer. She became a sales clerk, working at J.C. Penneys in Atlantic and in Iowa Falls for 37 years.
Ada was an avid golfer (thrilled to have been blessed with two holes-in-one), enjoyed working crossword puzzles and adored family and friends.
She was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church; Nishna Hills Golf Club and the Kiwanis Allen House Aktion Club, which she was co-chair of.
She is survived by her grandson Todd Preston; her granddaughter Cindy Burg and husband Scott and four great grandchildren, all of Charleston, Rhode Island; sisters, Mary Jane Lane (Howard) of Greenfield, Marjorie Benson (Carl) of Ames, Georgia Cowan of Converse, Texas; brothers-in-law, Ivan Ray of Ft. Dodge and Clay Belcher of Atlantic and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Skeet in 1997; her sons David Preston in 1992 and Steven Preston in 2003; her parents; a brother Virgil and sisters, Muriel Bell, Cleone Ray, Juanita Budd and Betty Schultz; and sister-in-law Betty Belcher.
Funeral Information
There will be a funeral mass at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic on Tuesday, January 26 at 11:00 A.M. and family meeting friends there at the church for one hour prior to the funeral, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.

LUNCHEON
The family invites relatives and friends to join them for a luncheon at the Catholic Parish Center following the committal.
There will be open visitation at Roland Funeral Home daily, from 8:00 to 5:00, until Tuesday when services will be moved to S.S. Peter and Paul Church. The committal service will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic.
